We Believe...
God created ALL the creatures great and small...

We are a multi-faceted rescue organization designed to promote the salvation, placement, adoption or fostering of at-risk retired race horses, Premarin foals or horses who simply need a second chance.
Where we came from...
New Life Thoroughbred Rescue came to be as a result of a successful ex-PMU foal rescue effort launched in the fall of 2009 with Freedom Reigns. Thanks to the generous donations of many horse-loving friends, donations from the Mariah's Kids Fund and through a joint effort with Helen Meredith at The United Pegasus Foundation, we brought 9 foals, a yearling filly and a two year old filly home from Manitoba, Canada who were otherwise headed to slaughter. Of these 11, all but one gorgeous little filly have been placed into loving, forever homes. All in all, over 40 foals were rescued from the rancher who would send them to slaughter through the efforts of many rescues all over the US.
At that time, we began to feel led to provide a safety-net for at-risk race horses who do not wish to or are no longer able to race. It is our intent to stand in the gap for these noble creatures, facilitate and provide rehabilitation and/or retraining, and place each horse into a specially selected home. On a case by case basis, when we feel it is what God would have us do, we will sanctuary a horse forever to ensure its safety and security.
We believe it is our duty to save and protect those animals that God brings into our care and provide them a new life of happiness and security. More now than ever, in these tough economic times, there needs to be those who will stand up and be counted-those who will care for the horses whom others will not or cannot. We are willing to suffer the heartache and endure the sadness of watching innocent, loving and kind creatures be wasted by slaughter and abuse for the blessed opportunity to save those that we can.
We are reminded that as much as we love these precious horses, God loves them more! He created them for our enjoyment and only asked that we be good stewards of their precious lives. We say yes and thank God for the opportunity, for despite the pain and heartbreak of losing many, we find joy and fulfillment in saving the few. One day we pray, we will not be needed, but until then, we are standing guard.
In addition to saving the horses...
We provide hope to the hopeless. Through organized equestrian based therapy, we provide sessions for healing and personal recovery from emotional pain for at-risk teens and people who simply need the therapeutic healing a horse can give.
